About Telugu Badi
"Telugu Badi" was started in 2004 December with one week of intensive classes to help children interested in written and spoken Telugu language. Based on the positive feedback received from parent and students, a team of dedicated volunteers started "Telugu Badi" in 2005 under the blessings and support of Telugu Association of San Antonio(TASA).

The goal of this program is to inspire and motiavte Telugu children to "learn" Telugu. Learning our mother tongue is the most powerful instrument in preserving and developing our heriage and culture for our future generations. As we all know, it is our (Parents) responsibility to inculcate our language, culture and heritage in our children. Telugu Badi offers an opportunity and forum for parents and children to learn Telugu through a well designed lesson plans.

Our Telugu Badi teachers have developed lesson plans to make Telugu learning a "fun activity", entertaining and educational. Teachers have developed lessons plans that are appropriate for each age group, which is based on the a game approach in teaching conversational Telugu where the kids will participate in role-playing activities. Children are asked to come up with ideas for variousprojects, skits where they can use their Telugu vocabulary, sentence formation skills, and conversational skills. Lesson formats have been developed to encourage day-to-day conversations in Telugu. Lesson plans also include teaching children about our Telugu culture, festivals, our families, our cities and villages, and our state.

Telugu Badi classes for the first 5 years were held at Alamo Analytical Laboratories. Telugu Badi and TASA thanks Vijaya and Srinivas Gosala for allowing us to use their premises free of cost and their continued support of Telugu Badi. The current location is Little Cherub Childcare and thanks to Usha Kolli for allowing us to use their facility for free.

Telugu Badi is proud of their first ever graduate Siddartha Gosala, who graduated in April 2009. We currently have about 45 kids enrolled in our program.
